Jamaal, 20, qualified for a wish at the beginning of 2018 after being diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma in the fall of 2017. He started going through chemo treatments and was still in treatment when he qualified for a wish.

When talking about wish ideas, Jamaal had a couple of different things in mind. He initially thought about going on a cruise or traveling somewhere with his family. After COVID hit, he decided to reimagine his wish to something he could use now and could continue to bring him joy. He decided on an online shopping spree and said that “looking at the items will bring back memories of how I was strong enough to survive through cancer.” Jamaal wished for many things that he could start to enjoy right away, including lots of clothes, athletic accessories, electronics, a guitar, and even some gifts for his family for Christmas!

Jamaal’s volunteer wish granters brought over Make-A-Wish t-shirts and enhancements after all his shopping spree items arrived. Everything arrived just in time for the holidays! His wish granters also gave him a gift card to his favorite restaurant, Hibachi Grill, to celebrate his wish with his family! Jamaal was so appreciative of his shopping spree wish and could not stop saying thank you.
