Allie’s favorite animals are sea turtles and dolphins. She loves playing in the sand and going to the beach.
It totally makes sense that Allie’s wish would be to go to Hawaii and swim with dolphins.
In August, Allie’s wish was granted and it was everything she could have asked for – and more!
Allie was born with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) a life threatening genetic lung disease. My husband and I had no idea we were carriers of the disease so we were in absolute shock when we found out at her 2 week checkup that she tested positive for CF. We knew our lives would change. That first year now looking back is kind of a blur, we were trying to learn everything we could about the disease and how to care for Allie but also had our other daughter, 2 year old Maddy to care for. Our life consisted of many doctor appointments, medications and treatments and learning a new way of life. Allie’s first 2 week hospital stay was at 17 months old. As years went on Allie adapted to hours of breathing treatments, airway clearance treatments and medications, including meds with every meal or snack. She learned to swallow pills at just 3 years old. Allie would have a couple more hospitalizations and her latest in 2019 to have a feeding tube placed. Allie has always struggled to gain weight, so now she does an overnight feeding to help with that. Our team of doctors had informed us that she would qualify for Make A Wish, we understood what a gift that was to be offered to her and decided we would wait until she could really appreciate that and really put some thought into what she’d wish for.
