Wish kid, Haley wasn’t sure she would qualify, “I was not diagnosed until I was 15 and by that point I thought I was too old for a Make-A-Wish, so I was beyond excited when my social worker told me I was eligible.”

When a child is referred to Make-A-Wish, elegbility is determined by the following criteria:

  • Diagnosed with a critical illness, i.e., a progressive, degenerative or malignant condition that is placing the child's life in jeopardy
  • Older than 2½ years and younger than 18
  • Has not received a wish from another wish-granting organization rred to Make-A-Wish, they must meet the following criteria at the time of referral:

After completing the referel process, Haley worked with her wish granters to choose her wish:

“I originally wanted to go to Greece, but after Covid shut down international travel, I had to change what I wanted. I had been wanted to go to Hawaii since I was little, so I figured it would be the next best thing. I had so much fun and my favorite part was snorkeling in a coral reef because I had never done it before.”
