Harper was diagnosed with Batten disease or CLN2 when she was 2 almost 3. Every other Monday we have to go to Boys Town Hospital and get enzyme treatments. Our amazing doctor set up Make-A-Wish Iowa. We were so happy for Harper we both started crying for her.
It was very easy to pick the wish for Harper. Our wish was a trip to Disney World because Harper loves Mickey and Minnie Mouse and the whole gang. We didn't have to really prepare much because Make-A-Wish Iowa did everything for us and did an amazing job and made it so easy for us to just enjoy the whole thing.
The impact of this trip will leave us all with lifetime of good memories. Being able to enjoy this experience with the family was a dream come true. I am so glad we did this now while Harper can still walk was the best idea.
It matters so much. Our family will be forever grateful for Make-A-Wish Iowa. You guys change families lives for the better. Most of these families have to deal with a lot of pain and heartache and for a week or days you forget about that time and your child experiences things they will always remember. You guys do amazing things.
