Evelyn was diagnosed with ALL leukemia when she was almost 3 years old. We heard about Make-A-Wish through the organizations at the Iowa City hospital where she is being treated. Evelyn felt excitement when she understood what going to Disney World meant. Evelyn wished to go to Disney World and meet Minnie Mouse and Moana.
We prepared by doing a sticker countdown sheet and watching lots of shows/movies with her favorite characters. Evelyn's wish experience was the best you could ask for. Evelyn is 4.5 years old and never had a bigger smile than when she got to meet her favorite characters and ride the roller coasters. When you ask Evelyn what her favorite part was she will tell you that "riding the roller coaster Slinky Dog" was her favorite. This Wish made an impact by showing us there is hope not only in our daughter but so many others and it was some great family time!
